Located in the southeast of Huai’an City, Jinhu County is a region with rivers and lakes, with Gaoyou Lake, Baoying Lake and Baima Lake around it, and Huaihe River through it. Jinhu was established as a county in 1959, when Premier Zhou Enlai personally named it "Jinhu", meaning abundant harvest from the lake each day.
